Information

Mozu is a hero appearing in Gigantic.

Official Summary

"The recipe for a troublemaker like Mozu is appallingly simple. Just mix a modicum of magical training with a penchant for mischief and a flexible definition of ownership."

-Sage-Instructor Jellathir, House Devaedra

Official Rating Summary

Mozu is objectively offense-oriented, as Mozu's attack rating is pretty high (certainly higher than most heroes, at least). This comes with the caveat of low defense, however, and slightly above average mobility and utility. What this in effect means is that, while Mozu is a great damage dealer, the survivability consideration must be calculated when getting into the fray. This is offset somewhat by Mozu's abilities, specifically Attractor Beam, which slows pursuing enemies, allowing for some measure of crowd management. Additionally, the Dimension Door is pretty effective for quick movement, but has a high cooldown, making it a skill that takes a lot of finesse and understanding of the battlefield to use.

Summary

Mozu is a relatively agile hero with a complex set of attacks. If you want to be a tank, straight DPS, or straight support, skip Mozu - if you're willing to learn the ins and outs of a hero though, and like to think tactically, Mozu is a great choice.

Strategy

The fact of the matter is that Mozu is either the best hero or the worst hero entirely based on the play style and abilities of the player controlling Mozu. Because her LMB move, Magic Bolt, takes a lot of time to understand and use properly, a lot of players seem to shy away from her. Part of the problem is that Mozu's LMB builds up damage over time, meaning when you enter a fight, you have low-ish defense, decent enough mobility, but low damage, which amps up over time. This means she is prone to being disrupted, blocked, and mitigated. If you plan your attacks correctly, however, and take on a more "support fire" role than direct DPS, you can do a huge amount of damage with Mozu.

Part of the way you can do this is to pre-arm the LMB attack before you get into a battle. Drop into a fight with a pre-armed LMB, deal as much damage as you can, then use the Dimension Door to "get out of dodge" before you take too much heat. Manage your stamina, though, and understand the cooldown for Dimension Door is huge - if you're caught without either, you might as well sit still, because you're done, regardless of how effectively you use your other skills or how many allies you have to help.

Tips

  • When you upgrade Arcane Vortex, you can deflect projectiles while also granting haste, which is super powerful. Upgrade quickly.
  • Mozu can deal huge, amazing damage with Magic Bolt, so if you hide behind terrain or other features, you can deal some serious damage while hidden.
  • Magic Bolt takes a period of time to charge, so you can pre-load it by hitting the air before your first attacks.
  • Dimension Door is a great, easy escape skill, but remember that you have to touch terrain or the ground in order to teleport - it can't be used in aerial combat.
  • Manage your stamina or you're going to be knocked down extremely fast.
  • Deploy the Arcane Vortex in front of your allies and in close areas to negate enemy skills and movement.
  • Don't be afraid to run, as you honestly can't deal with much damage by yourself.
